SCT (Scout Configuration Tool) technical requirements

We install and configure the Scout Configuration Tool (SCT) remotely on a computer in your network. Requirements for the computer on which we install and configure SCT:

  • Operating system: Windows 8/10 or Windows Server 2012 or later.
  • .NET Framework 4.8 (we install the required components with SCT).
  • Suggested PC configuration: CPU at least 2 cores × 2.4 GHz, at least 4 GB RAM.
  • The computer should be on as much of the time as possible – SCT runs in the background as Windows services.
  • Temporary remote access to the computer to install and configure SCT.

How we set up the Scout Configuration Tool

SCT (Scout Configuration Tool) is a set of console applications that run in the background as Windows services on a computer or server in your LAN. They receive data from the machines and send it to the Scout server over secure HTTPS. We install and configure SCT remotely. You create a Scout account, prepare a Windows computer (requirements above) and send us the list of machines: control type and IP addresses. After configuration, the machines appear straight away on the Scout Home screen.

Receiving data from machines and sending it to the Scout server

SCT runs in the background as Windows services, which start automatically with the computer. Data from the machines is sent to the Scout server whenever the computer is on – you do not need to start any application. The machines do not need internet access, and SCT itself opens the connection to the server, so you do not need to open any inbound ports in the firewall. Want to add another machine or change the configuration? Write to info@scoutmes.com – we make the changes in SCT remotely.

We describe the requirements for an on-premises Scout server on the Technical requirements page.
