HTTP JSON machine data

HTTP JSON machine data collection in Scout MES works with machines and devices that publish their data on a web page or through an API. Scout can also receive messages that an external system sends itself.

Reading data from the machine (HTTP JSON)

Configurable data: during deployment we specify the response fields from the machine’s page or API.

Receiving HTTP messages

An external system sends a message to Scout itself. The content of the message is configurable data, agreed during deployment.

How the connection works

The device must be reachable in your factory LAN. SCT (Scout Configuration Tool) runs as Windows services on a computer in your network and sends the data to the Scout server over HTTPS, so you do not need to open any inbound ports. We install and configure SCT remotely. You prepare a Windows computer in the LAN and send us the list of devices.

Frequently asked questions

What data can Scout read over HTTP (JSON)?

Configurable data. During deployment we specify which response fields from the machine’s page or API Scout should read.

Can another system send data to Scout?

Yes. An external system can send messages to Scout over HTTP. The content is configurable data, agreed during deployment.

Is this the same as ERP integration?

No. This page is about reading data from machines and devices. Exchanging jobs and data with an ERP is described on the MES ERP integration page.
